19. The Very Good Bra

The Very Good Bra is doing some very good work! If you’re searching for a truly zero-waste, toxic-free, and ethically created lingerie brand, The Very Good Bra has got you covered. All their garments are compostable. You won’t find any polyester thread, nylon labels, synthetic elastic or spandex/elastane in these cute undergarments. This brand is different than any other brand on this list as they use pre-sales to fund their production line. Meaning, they only create garments once orders have been placed, this helps to lessen overall waste. (Note: They run 3 pre-sales a year with new styles/materials/colours. And while they will create a few additional sizes and colors of each garment, the best way to ensure you get the size, color, and style you want is by placing your order during their pre-sales). Stephanie Devine, the founder of this zero-waste ethical brand, visits the family-owned factories in China and Hong Kong that manufacture these garments — she has a very close relationship with them as they too truly support her mission to create a low-waste fashion industry. And of course, everyone is paid fairly. Oh, and we like to think of The Good Bra as your everyday bra and underwear brand. The Very Good Bra underwear is made out of premium organic cotton, knitted and dyed (GOTS certified) in Australia and comes in one style (classic boy-leg brief) and three colors (Vintage Peach, Grey Marl and Black).

Price range: Pack of three is priced at $62.00 (shipping not included)

21. Rapanui

Now, we realize Rapanui is not a lingerie brand, per se, but their mission and approach to sustainable fashion are so amazing we decided to include them on this list. All of their products are created using GOTS certified organic cotton (you can trace the entire cotton journey from start to finish on their website) and ethically made in a wind-powered factory. Plus, this brand is all about creating a circular supply chain. Meaning, their products, once worn out, can be returned to be reused again and again (this practice mainly applies to their organic t-shirts; not sure you’d want to send in your old underwear anyway). But, all that being said, Rapanui offers your basic comfortable organic cotton underwear in five different colors (violet, lemon, eggshell, black, and athletic grey).
