Cosmic Connection, the organic cotton T-shirt collection inspired in the stars

We are Studio organic T-shirt collection is on a mission to inspire a new standard for everyone in the industry. We interview Nicolo Montori, the creator, and co-founder of a newly launched Italian eco-friendly streetwear brand with an innovative and open approach. The name: “studio – apparel for conscious human beings”. The focus is to inspire the new generations with a message of love, equality and harmony with the planet. We present you We are Studio’s first organic cotton T-shirt collection, hoping you get as inspired as we did!

What is the message and mission of Studio?

Our mission is to inspire a change in the fashion industry and in people’s hearts. We believe in inner freedom and self-expression, in love and harmony, in dreams and in dreamers. There’s no single human being, animal, plant or soul that doesn’t have the right to shine, we have all the tools in our world, the technology, the resources, the consciousness, to live in peace and harmony with each other and with all the life forms that live on our beautiful planet and the whole universe. There are already many people and companies in this world moving in this direction and pushing forward our boundaries through a positive change, we celebrate them, they are our heroes and inspiration, as part of something bigger we want to play our part in changing the world.

Why did you decide to start the business in ethical fashion?

The fashion industry has been proven to be one of the dirtiest businesses in the world producing habitat destruction, pollution of oceans and water, air pollution, animal suffering, and human rights abuse. At Studio we aim to show the world that fashion or style doesn’t necessarily need to stand side by side with all these devastating consequences, we want to inspire people and the industry by showing them that we already have plenty of solutions to move in a positive direction. We decided to start with a T-shirt Capsule Collection, focusing on giving a high-quality product for the right price, we want to reach as many people as possible so that everyone is able to make this message part of their life.

What type of audience are the T-shirts aiming for and how do they appreciate your products?

We don’t really aim to a specific audience, our products are mostly appreciated by the young generations but what we wanted to create is something that everyone can relate to, kids and adults coming from different cultural realities, cool and fresh designs that everyone can wear, no matter who you are or where you come from, there is no distinction.

What makes your art and creations different from others?

One of the reasons we decided to start this project is because we saw that one of the biggest limitations in the sustainable fashion industry is the power to reach all audiences and not only people interested in sustainable and eco-friendly products.  We created a streetwear-casual brand with innovative and trendy designs with a universal message that even someone who is not still into ethical fashion can relate to, in this way we are able to make everyone approach these topics and start to see it as something “normal”, inspiring a new standard for everyone in the industry.

Why is the name of the collection “Cosmic Connection”?

The first part of our collection was made by looking at the stars. We tried to imagine a future where the universe becomes our home and the values of unity, equality, love and harmony are well established; every t-shirt has a message and a statement with the goal of pushing our hearts into a new set of values, moving forward as a species to the future we all deserve.

How does the process of creation look like? 

We always look first at the message we want to deliver, starting from there we evolve our creative process by doing things over and over digging until we get to the essence of that concept, everything we make has a message and a meaning, ideas are interconnected in perfect synchronicity and nothing is left to chance, only by doing this we are able to get the best out of our design process and get closer to give people a clear vision of what we are and what we stand for.

What makes your T-shirts ethical and sustainable?

All of our products are made with the finest quality of combed organic cotton we make sure that in the process every fellow human being is respected and damages on our planet are limited causing no unnecessary harm. We are proudly certified by the global organic textile standard, fair wear foundation and carbon trust, we also make sure to donate part of our revenues to non-profit organisations such as World Food Programme and 1% for the Planet, this allows us not only to inspire the change but to be part of it.

How does collaboration look like for you and how does your studio enable that possibility?

We are constantly looking for collaborations with artists, companies, individual or collective projects, events, and initiatives that share the same spirit, we already working with many; the concept of community is fundamental for us and we believe that together we can make much more that we are able to do by ourselves, this is also one of the core values of our brand, even the name we chose “ studio “ is to symbolize the openness of our vision, a studio by definition is a space where people get together and create and that is what we want to do, get together and create a better future for us all.

What do events such as Fashion Revolution mean to a social creative entrepreneur like you?

Communities like Fashion Revolution inspired us to believe in this project, seeing people putting all this passion and effort into such a beautiful and meaningful mission is really one of the reasons we are doing this,  we are extremely grateful for what they are achieving already and we are excited to see what they have in store for the future.

You are based in Italy, how does a social entrepreneurial venture look like there? Do you feel there’s a change happening in the country?

Unfortunately Italy is still a country that is really attached to traditions, most of the time reluctant to change and new ideas, so it’s a very hostile environment in this sense, especially for realities like ours but that is one of the reason we decided to do this here, as we are moving forward with the project we are seeing a lot of people getting inspired by us and by the possibility that if you want to do something you can do it, circumstances take a back seat when you are motivated by the passion for what you are doing.

If you could write a message on a big wall that the entire world could read, what would it say?

WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.
